At Transactiva, we are committed to integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles across all our operations, ensuring that sustainability is at the core of all our business units.

We have officially embarked on a journey towards the formal recognition of our sustainability efforts with the support of the Polo Tecnologico Alto Adriatico, with the project “Analisi preliminare per il percorso di sostenibilità”.

Environmental Responsibility

We employ Plant Molecular Farming (PMF) as a cornerstone of our production strategy. This innovative approach utilizes plants as biofactories to produce valuable polypeptides and metabolites, offering several environmental sustainability advantages over traditional production systems.

• Carbon Reduction: Plants, as natural carbon fixers, absorb atmospheric CO₂ through photosynthesis, contributing to carbon sequestration and reducing greenhouse gas levels.
• Resource Efficiency: Our use of soilless cultivation techniques, such as vertical farming, eliminates the need for pesticides, significantly reduces water and fertilizer consumption, and alleviates pressure on agricultural land, promoting sustainable resource use.
• Sustainable Manufacturing: By integrating bio-based strategies into plant-based processes, PMF contributes to more sustainable manufacturing practices, thereby aiding in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Additionally, PMF is recognized for its cost-effectiveness and scalability. Due to their intrinsically modular nature (one plant equals one production system), plants provide an inexpensive and convenient system for the rapid and sustainable production of valuable proteins. This approach not only ensures a high profile of product quality and safety but also aligns with environmentally friendly practices by minimizing reliance on energy-intensive and pollutant-emitting industrial processes.

Sustainable Ingredients in Dermocosmetics In our production of active ingredients for dermocosmetics, Transactiva is committed to developing plant-based ingredients. All our products are Vegetal-OK and inherently biodegradable. We continuously strive to maintain sustainability objectives and aim to achieve COSMOS certification for as many of our ingredients as possible, ensuring our products meet high environmental and ethical standards.

Social Responsibility

Transactiva is dedicated to making biopharmaceuticals and bioactive proteins production accessible and sustainable. Founded by researchers with proven experience in molecular biology, plant biotechnology, and rare diseases, we focus on developing affordable healthcare solutions and promoting well-being. Our commitment extends to community engagement, ethical business practices, and the continuous pursuit of innovations that enhance quality of life.

Transactiva actively contributes to the education and training of young minds by hosting thesis students and interns, providing them with hands-on experience in biotechnology. We proudly collaborate with the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Trieste, participating pro bono in an applied biotechnology course alongside other companies, and offering students short-term educational experiences (“pillole formative”).
