MossTech: Advanced use of mosses for biotechnological solutions” is a project based on the Horizon 2020 call “H2020-MSCA-ITN-2017”, or “Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks”, which provides for the training of 6 young researchers (Early Stage Researchers, ESRs) through industrial doctorate projects at European level (EID, European Industrial Doctorates). Each project involves the participation of a public research body (University) and an industrial reality for the training of PhD students. The focus of the research program is modern biotechnology, with particular attention to the use of plant systems (mainly moss) in biotechnological applications.

Transactiva was contacted in October 2016 by the DTU (Technical University of Denmark), promoter of the initiative, for participating in MossTech as an industrial partner, and contributed to the drafting of the project. The calls closed on January 10th 2017.

In May 2017, in advance of the scheduled deadlines, the news of the brilliant passing of the selection phase by the project (with a score of 91.40 / 100.00) was made public. Together with the University of Friborg, Transactiva will embody a doctoral program that combines the biotechnological advantages of the use of moss (Moss) to molecular farming in higher plants, hosting and training a young European researcher from the spring of 2018.

The next steps will be the kickoff project meeting, which will take place in Copenhagen at the beginning of October 2017, and the signing of a Consortium Agreement by the end of the year.
